Mahan Air will commence flights to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport from 2 September. The Iranian carrier will operate twice weekly flights on the route from Tehran, using its Boeing 747 aircraft with 387 seats in Economy Class and 44 in Business. Shanghai will become Mahan’s 18th international destination and its third new route for 2011, after Kuala Lumpur-Mashad and Istanbul-Tehran.
During a press conference held recently, the airline’s Director of Marketing, Hossein Hosseini said; “We have seen significant increase in demand for Shanghai as a focal point of trade and tourism for the Iranian travelers. Additionally, the strong demand shown by the Chinese businessmen to travel to Iran and the continued growth of trade volume between Iran and China has created the right opportunities for introducing direct flights between the two great cities of Shanghai and Tehran.”
