Independent tour operator Major Travel has announced a series of developments aimed at enhancing its offering within the cruise sector.
In recent months the firm has announced that it has penned a deal to be the sole GSA of Spanish cruise line Pullmantur and has launched a new online agents’ cruise product offering. It has also hosted an invitation only event upon Pullmantur’s Empress to celebrate the partnership.
The search tool – ‘Major 4 Agents’ – is a vast facility which allows the trade to search for prices across all of Major’s offerings, meaning they can speak confidently to clients about the best deals available. Pricing on the site include commission, meaning that agents can share the details on screen with customers – a huge bonus explains Andrew McKenna, Major Travel’s director of Cruise.
“Mediterranean cruises departing Rome in May 2013, for example, will return every available cruise from Rome in that month so agents can easily discuss all the options with their client, comparing ships, cabins, promotions, itineraries and prices,” he said.
The sole GSA partnership is another good bit of news for the firm, with the Spanish operator opening up its product to more and more clients beyond its national borders – a trend being seen across the cruise industry.
“We were looking for a partner well positioned in the UK market, with a steadfast reputation and the knowledge to promote our exceptional offering,” commented Giorgia Cappabianca, international sales director for Pullmantur. “Major Travel is also an expert consolidator and has very strong web credentials.”
