Malaysia Airlines commences Haj charters

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) launched its first Haj charter services today. The first flight departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this morning at 1125, carrying 447 pilgrims to Medina.
For this Haj season, MAS will operate 35 direct flights to Jeddah and Medina, departing from six Malaysian hubs – KL (11), Penang (eight), Kuala Terengganu (seven), Johor Bahru (six), Kuching (three) and Kota Kinabalu (three) from 29 September to 30 October 2011. Of the 35 flights, the airline will operate a total of 13 direct flights to Medina and 22 direct flights to Jeddah.
All Haj flights will be operated using two Boeing 747-400, with a seating capacity of 454.
