Malaysia airport traffic drops 9%

Bernama reported that the number of passengers using Kuala Lumpur InternationalAirport (KLIA) in Sepang declined 8.9% to 1.90 million from 2.09 million a yearago, citing an MAHB statement. It added that international passengers at thecountry’s main airport dropped 8.4% to 1.27 million while domestic traffic fell9.8% to 633,378.
For other airports operated by the group, international passengers declined15.2% to 201,797 while domestic traffic fell 8.6% to 1.17 million.
Aircraft movements also dropped 0.4% to 38,714 movements in February 2009, MAHBsaid. It added however, that aircraft movements at KLIA rose 1.4% to 16,482.
MAHB operates five international (KLIA,plus international hubs in Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi and Penang) and 16domestic airports across Malaysia.
