Mandarin Oriental is moving Rajesh Jhingon, most recently General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, to head the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas. He will oversee the opening of the hotel scheduled for 2009.
The hotel, which will have 392 rooms, is located in the heart of the famed “Strip”, ideally situated at the entrance of MGM CityCenter. Jhingon was General Manager of the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Maldives and the Amarvilas, Agra. He has also held various senior managerial positions with The Oberoi Group both in New Delhi and Bombay.
Paul Jones, most recently Hotel Manager of The Oriental, Bangkok will take over at the Singapore property. Jones spent six years in India with the Oberoi Group as General Manager of The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur as well as The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore.
