Mandarin Oriental has signed a management agreement for a new luxury hotel in Chengdu.
Currently under development, the Mandarin Oriental Chengdu will form part of a mixed-use development located on a riverfront site in the Sichuan capital’s Jin-jiang district, opposite Wang-jiang Park.
Located on the top 33 floors of a glass and steel tower, the property will feature 320 rooms and suites and six F&B venues, including a rooftop bar and tea lounge. Other facilities will include a 2,740m² spa with 10 treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and two ballrooms with a combined capacity of 1,700 people. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2015.
Mandarin Oriental currently operates six hotels in China – three in Hong Kong, two in Macau and one in Sanya – but its pipeline includes new openings in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, as well as Chengdu.
