Mandarin Oriental’s hotel restaurants now boast more Michelin stars than any other hotel group.
Ten of the Hong Kong-based company’s restaurants have been honoured in the 2016 Michelin Guides, taking the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the group’s portfolio to 11, with a total of 16 stars – more than any other hotel group in the world.
In the latest guides, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong’s Pierre, which is overseen by Pierre Gagnaire, has been awarded two Michelin stars, while the Mandarin Grill & Bar and Man Wah Cantonese restaurant both have one star. Nearby at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Richard Ekkebus’ Amber restaurant was awarded two stars.
At Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Signature, the French fine dining establishment, Sense, the Cantonese restaurant, and the Tapas Molecular Bar were all awarded single stars.
Elsewhere in the company’s global portfolio, Moments at Mandarin Oriental Barcelona was awarded two Michelin stars, as was Dinner at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London, which is helmed by Heston Blumenthal.
Sur Mesure at Mandarin Oriental Paris was awarded two Michelin stars in the 2015 guide, with this year’s edition to be published in the coming weeks.
And at Mandarin Oriental Milan, the newly-opened Seta restaurant was awarded one Michelin star, just four months after its launch.
“We are truly delighted to once again receive these prestigious accolades, and are particularly honoured that Seta at Mandarin Oriental Milan has been awarded a Michelin star after just four months of operation,” said David Nicholls, the group’s corporate director of food & beverage. “It reflects the dedication to fine dining excellence that Mandarin Oriental hotels offer around the world.”
