Mantra Group has unveiled two new properties in Brisbane.
The Australian company has signed agreements to develop a new 164-room hotel in the city’s Observatory Tower, as well as rebranding an existing hotel in the city.
The Observatory Tower property will see the conversion of the 24-level residential building into an upscale hotel. Refurbishment of the first 50 apartments will be completed by September 2014 when the property will be launched as the Mantra on Edward Brisbane. The renovation of the remaining 114 apartments will be completed by March 2015.
Units will be substantially bigger than standard hotel rooms, with two- and three-bedroom apartments offering up to 165m² of space.
“This was a rare opportunity that will see us able to offer some of the largest rooms in Brisbane in a prime location,” said Mantra Group’s CEO, Bob East.
In addition, Mantra has taken over the management of the former Diamant Hotel Brisbane. Effective this month, the 84-room property will be known as Mantra Terrace Hotel Brisbane.
“This hotel is an exceptional offering in Brisbane CBD that we are pleased to have carry the Mantra name,” said East.
The two new additions bring Mantra’s portfolio in Brisbane to six hotels, including five Mantras and one BreakFree property.
