Mantra continues NZ expansion
Australian hospitality company, the Mantra Group, has announced plans to open two more properties in New Zealand in 2013.
The addition of the Peppers Portage and Mantra Lake Tekapo this year will bring Mantra’s total New Zealand portfolio to 12 properties – eight under the Peppers brand, two Mantra resorts and two BreakFree properties.
“Peppers is one of the fastest growing luxury hotel brands in New Zealand having added four spectacular properties to the network in 2012 with further expansion scheduled in 2013,” said Mantra Group CEO, Bob East. “I’m also pleased to see further growth of the Mantra network which is a well known brand for both New Zealand and Australian travellers.”
The former Portage Resort Hotel, in the Marlborough region of New Zealand’s South Island, has already opened its doors as the Peppers Portage. Mantra now plans to undertake a major refurbishment of the property’s 41 rooms, F&B outlets and grounds, in a project expected to be completed later this year.
Also joining the group will be the 28-room Mantra Lake Tekapo, in the centre of the South Island.
The New Zealand developments are part of an ongoing Asia Pacific expansion for Mantra Group. The company also recently announced it will open its first property in Indonesia in March – the Mantra Nusa Dua in Bali. A new Peppers resort is also set to open on Fiji’s Naisoso Island in early 2014.
