Serviced apartment operator Marlin Apartments has been given approval for a 218-room property on Westminster Bridge Road. The ‘apart-hotel’ will be the firm’s seventh property London but its first property of this sort in the capital.
The deal, which involves planning consultants Jones Lang LaSalle, will see the new property open in 2016.
It will involve ground floor shops and a restaurant, and be just a five-minute walk from the London Eye and Houses of Parliament.
“The development on Westminster Bridge Road is a very exciting proposition for Marlin Apartments as it allows us to diversify our offering to both the corporate and leisure travel markets,” said Susan Cully the company’s managing director.
“By adopting the apart-hotel business model for the first time, we can offer guests a more compact offering but with the same high level of design, facilities, style, customer service and value as we already offer across Marlin Apartments’ six other sites.
“The Westminster Bridge Road location will make us more appealing than ever to the leisure traveller. With the corporate travel market tending to book shorter stays, which rarely extend into the weekend, diversifying into the leisure market is increasingly important to Marlin Apartments’ future business.”
The firm was founded in 2003 and has a portfolio of 700 four star-equivalent premium apartments.
