Ratan Marothia has taken over as President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the apex hotel and restaurant body in India.
He succeeds Rajendera Kumar of The Ambassador Hotel New Delhi.
Marothia owns The Jagannath Hotel Kolkata and has been active in hospitality associations at the regional and national levels.
He comes from a business family with interests in logistics and steel.
Marothia told TD India that after taking over, he would strive hard to lobby for the causes dear to the industry.
He said that tourism, for which India is ideally suited, can be a catalyst for economic growth and social development.
“I consider myself fortunate for having had the opportunity to make a contribution towards that growth,” he said.
