Malaysia Airlines (MAS) considering changing its order for the Boeing 737-800 for the larger 737-900ER model. Bernama reported Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ Senior Sales Director, Paul Dubeck as saying that MAS “have the right” to change the order. “They are studying it,” Dubeck told the Malaysian news agency. The 737-900ER is able to carry 26 more passengers than the 737-800 and also has a longer range. MAS ordered 35 737-800s in 2008 as replacements for its 737-400 fleet.
