MAS to boost Kota Kinabalu
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is increasing its connections from Kota Kinabalu, with the launch of direct services to Perth and Osaka and extra flights to Hong Kong.
The national carrier will commence a weekly service to Perth on Saturdays from 9 December 2012, while twice weekly flights to Osaka will get underway on 20 December 2012. MAS will also introduce two more weekly services from the Sabah state capital to Hong Kong, operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 December 2012.
“These services are part of our ongoing commitment to boost inbound tourist arrivals to Kota Kinabalu as well as contribute towards the growth of the tourism industry in Sabah and Sarawak,” said the airline’s Group CEO, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said. “These new services alone will provide an additional weekly capacity of 800 seats for direct international tourist arrivals into East Malaysia.”
Perth and Osaka were two of the destinations cut when MAS reduced its services from Kota Kinabalu earlier this year.
