Mauritius-based destination management company (DMC) Connections is to provide 24/7 online booking thanks to a new deal with Illusions Online.
The ground handler, which is the local representative for companies such as Thomas Cook, is to use Illusions Online’s Enterprise solution to track and control its prices in real-time availability.
Karl Braunecker, managing director at Connections told Travel Daily the move to an online environment was crucial to its growth and future, particularly as many of its customers are overseas and need contact at different hours.
“The booking engine is at the real centre of it as time matters a lot. The key to business is turnaround time and to get quotations back as soon as possible or process requests so that companies can work more efficiently,” he said. “The old [offline] system is dying so we have to change online and even early indicators to some small changes has seen reservations increased in folds quickly and echoes what could come.”
Connections is the first Mauritius based DMC to implement an online booking system where it can manage bookings and set prices, with scope for tour operators to be integrated onto the platform later down the line to streamline sales further.
“Connections had technology before but with our solution will move this traditional DMC into an online player and can really move the business forward. It’s a massive changed and huge investment for Connections and we are happy to associated with it,” Faisal Memon, CEO of Illusions Online told Travel Daily. “It’s about making Connections more efficient and improve their product and revenue, perhaps even launching into new markets it was not able to before.”
The new system will be fully up and running on 1 November, with Illusions Online to continue working with Connections as a technology partner.
