Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) has announced the expansion of its Chinese portfolio with the addition of the M Hotel Chengdu.
Marking the international debut of the M Hotels brand, which Singapore-based M&C says is designed to cater for “the young and young at heart”, M Hotel Chengdu will have a strong focus on technology. Every room comes with a work area, flat-screen television and balcony, while deluxe rooms come with kitchenettes.
Other hotel facilities include a gym, indoor swimming pool, squash court, table tennis area, billiard room, meeting rooms and library equipped with computer stations and Wi-Fi. The hotel also has a restaurant, the M Cafe, plus 24-hour room service.
“Singapore has fostered a strong relationship with China by helping local enterprises invest and do business in China for the mutual benefit. Today, we witness an example of this strong relationship,” said M&C’s chairman, Kwek Leng Beng.
“We are pleased with our government’s collaboration with the Sichuan government through the Singapore-Sichuan Hi Tech Innovation Park. We will be signing a memorandum of understanding to invest in this park later today. Hong Leong Group Singapore will also continue our commitment here in Sichuan both as an investor and a partner,” added Kwek who is also executive chairman of Hong Leong Group Singapore, M&C’s parent company.
The M Hotel Chengdu is 13 minutes’ drive from the city’s Shuangliu International Airport and a five-minute walk from the high-end Xin Nan Tian Di area of the city. It becomes the second M&C property in the Sichuan capital, following the Millennium Hotel Chengdu, and the company’s eighth property in mainland China.
