Millennium & Copthorne hotels has launched a new global campaign to save energy.
The Singapore-based company is targeting a monthly reduction of at least 10%, or 1.2 million kilowatt per hour (kWh), in all of its 110 properties.
M&C’s 13 Asian properties, with a total of 4,195 rooms, are expected to achieve 1.390 kWh of energy savings each month, providing annual cost savings of SG$306,775 (US$246,400), or about SG$3.68 million a year.
To achieve this, M&C Hotels will take part in a series of month-long measures, including raising temperatures of its chillers, dimming lights in public areas and turning off the air-conditioning during office lunch hours, or setting the temperature at 24 degrees or higher.
“This year’s expanded global effort at energy savings is another sign of our commitment to reduce energy in all our hotels, as well as raise awareness of the importance of conserving Earth’s resources,” said Kwek Leng Beng, Chairman of M&C Hotels.
