Meetings body launches qualification

A new qualification for the meetings industry is due to be launched in the UK by Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
The MPI’s UK & Ireland Chapter said plans are underway for the launch of its Certification of Meeting Management for meeting and events professionals, while it will also hold forums and updates for members. In addition MPI will host several networking events including its ‘MPI and a Pint’ nights to support its members.
The announcements were made at MPI’s summer party earlier this week, which marked the association’s 40th anniversary and the chapter’s 18th birthday.
“This year is an important milestone for the chapter. We are a community which is continually growing and I believe 2012/2013 will be a great year for the Chapter as we increase the opportunities for our members,” said Samme Allen, president of MPI UK & Ireland chapter and head of sales at the Barbican. “We have listened to what our members want from their membership and this has helped form our programme going forward.”
