Air India’s route expansion plans to Melbourne are looking unsteady as permission to fly the route was denied by the Civil Aviation Ministry for a second time last week. However, Melbourne Airport remains confident that the Indian government will approve the plan, despite complaints from a board member who claims the route is not financially viable. Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, an airport spokesperson said that they have not had confirmation either way, but remained confident that the airline will fly to Melbourne soon.
