Organisers of the Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix have flagged a later start to the race next year to prevent the event from heading offshore, AFP reported.
Ron Walker, Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chairman was quoted saying that next year’s race would start at 5pm in an attempt to satisfy F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
The start time for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne has been moved from 2:00pm to 3:30pm (0430 GMT) so more European fans can watch live television coverage of the race.
Organisers said they expected the time change to attract millions more television viewers around the world.
