Spanish hotel firm Melia Hotels International has announced new hotel openings in Glasgow and Barcelona.
An opening date was not listed for the two properties, which are under the Innside brand. The Glasgow hotel will have 175 rooms while the Birmingham property has 180 rooms.
The Innside brand will debut in the UK later this year when the 208-room Innside Manchester opens.
The hotel group’s expansion is spanning internationally with other openings due this year including Sol House Kuta Bali, Melia Ibirapuera (Sao Paulo), Melia Paris La Defense, Melia Costa Hollywood, Melia Jamaica, ME Caracas (Venezuela) and Melia Paiva (Recife).
The additions were announced as vice chairman and CEO Gabriel Escarrer spoke of its ‘evolution’ and turnaround in recent years under a strategic plan.
It has seen 17 months of growth following a healthier balance sheet, investment in technology, its website and services and partnerships with travel agents and tour operators.
“Our Strategic Plan has allowed us to carefully manage a few difficult years and we have levered our resort leadership and international presence to become one of the largest hotel management companies in the world, all while retaining our commitment to Spain where we have continued to invest and reinvent our value proposal for guests and for society as a whole,” Escarrer said.
