Meliá to launch flagship London hotel
Spain’s Meliá Hotels International will launch a new flagship hotel in London this September.
Designed by Norman Foster, the ME London Hotel will become the fifth luxury ME by Meliá-branded hotel in the world, joining existing properties in Madrid, Barcelona, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas.
Located in Marconi House, the former headquarters of BBC Radio, close to Covent Garden, the new hotel will offer 157 rooms and suites including a two-level ME Suite with direct access to the rooftop bar. A large tower tops the 108-year-old building, crowned by a glass dome, while the interior is dominated by a large atrium.
The opening of the hotel also sees the European launch of the STK restaurant, a popular American steakhouse concept designed for female diners. Other F&B options will include the Asellina Italian restaurant, the Marconi Bar and the rooftop Radio Bar, which features views of Aldwych and the Strand.
The property will also feature 700m² of meeting and event space.
Meliá’s vice chairman and chief executive Gabriel Escarrer said the opening of the ME London would represent “a fundamental step forward in our globalisation process”.
