Tourism in Oman will be given a new perspective. The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is implementing several projects in Al Wusta governorate to attract more visitors, as per a report in Muscat Daily.
“Several projects have been initiated under supervision of MoT to boost tourism in Al Wusta. These projects aim to improve services provided to tourists visiting the governorate,” said Azad bin Amer Tamman Al Omari, director of tourism in Al Wusta.
As part of this initiative, a tourism information centre has been opened in the Wilayat of Haima. The centre distributes brochures, guides and booklets about tourist sites in Al Wusta and their history and culture. Portable toilets have also been installed across the governorate. In addition, the ministry has ensured that hotels and guesthouses in the governorate provide quality services to visitors.
“The number of hotel rooms and chalets in Al Wusta has also increased to 551 and are distributed across the four wilayats,” added Omari.
Al Wusta is also home to marine plant species and a route for migratory birds. One can spot rare plants and animals such as the Arabian oryx and Nubian ibex in the governorate. The destination is also famous for camel racing.
