Mixed fortunes for world’s whales

The latest global assessment of whale and dolphin populations has shown mixed fortunes for the marine mammals, the BBC has reported. An IUCN study has reveals reveals that some large species, like humpbacks, have seen numbers increase. However some species of river dolphin such as the banjii, which live in China Yangtze River, have been classed as ‘Possibly Extinct’ after studies failed to detect a single surviving specimen.
