Staff at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will now be able to check-in passengers via tablet devices.
The installation of Rockwell Collins’ new mobile passenger processing solution will allow passengers to be processed from anywhere in the terminal, including lounges, and is aimed at reducing check-in queues at the Indian airport.
The airport also noted that this solution would be useful in the winter months, when adverse weather conditions can cause flight delays and congestion.
In addition, the mobile solution offers a specialised check-in tool that enables airlines to offer additional levels of service to premium passengers, such as seat upgrades.
“Passenger delight is a driving principle that has helped shape our company, services, goals and all that we stand for today,” said Jeewan Khulbe, Head of IT at Delhi International Airport Ltd. “[The new solution] from Rockwell Collins is a way to improve the passenger experience and to provide our airports with cutting-edge solutions when traditional systems are not enough.”
Delhi Airport has deployed a series of Rockwell Collins solutions in recent years, including self-service check-in kiosks and baggage processing systems.
