Medical charity, InterHealth, is launching pocket-sized data cards for travellers so they can carry their medical records with them everywhere they go. The Crosscard personal medical record is a credit card sized USB device that stores medical data in two areas. There is an emergency area, which contains information that is publicly available, and a protected area, which can only be accessed by entering a password. Developed by Advanced Health & Care (AHC), the Crosscard will be rolled-out over the coming months to over 300 InterHealth client organisations which support thousands of travellers each year. The medical information held on the card could include blood group, blood pressure readings, details of any allergies or medical conditions, medication being taken and test results. To update the card details, the card plugs into a PC or laptop, enabling key medical information to be accessed and updated within seconds.
