The air traffic volume between Myanmar and China this year till November is almost double that of the whole of last year.
Xinhua quoted U Tun Hlaing, director-general of Myanmar’s Department of Civil Aviation, as saying that the increase was due to increased air links between the two countries.
China Southern Airlines opened its Guangzhou-Yangon-Guangzhou air route in July this year, becoming the third Chinese airline flying to the Myanmar capital. It currently uses a 120-seat Airbus A-319, operating thrice weekly services.
With the inauguration of flight services by the Hong Kong Express Airways between Hong Kong and Yangon in early November this year, the number of Chinese airlines flying Myanmar has come to four.
