Shanghai is expected to have 13,400 rooms in high-end hotels by the end of this year, according to the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission.
These additional rooms plus the current 60,000 plus 24,000 under construction or in the pipeline will put Shanghai’s high-end hotel inventory at 100,000.
This will hit 130,000 beds by 2010, it said.
As for hotels at lower levels, Shanghai is expected to add about 270,000 beds in low-end and budget hotels, bringing the total number to 400,000.
