More Shanghainese plan overseas trips

Shanghai has seen a 27% rise in the number of citizens planning an overseas trip. According to a Shanghai Morning Post reported, citing data from the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau, 454,000 people applied for their passports in 2009. Those applying for visas to Hong Kong and Macau reached 1.05 million, 15% higher than the previous year, while citizens travelling to Taiwan surged more than 300% to 78,000.
