Starwood is expanding its SPG Keyless solution to more of its hotel brands.
The system, which allows guests to access their rooms using their smartphone, was initially rolled out at Aloft, Element and W Hotels in 2014, and is currently available at more than 160 properties in 30+ countries. And now, Starwood has announced plans to extend the functionality to its Le Meridien, Westin, Sheraton and Four Points brands.
The service is only available to members of the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) loyalty programme, using the SPG app.
“Innovation and personalisation are at the centre of everything we do, and we’re committed to making travel better for every SPG member by creating solutions for pain points that are custom-made for their mobile lifestyles,” said Alyssa Waxenberg, Starwood’s vice president of mobile.
“SPG Keyless is literally opening doors for SPG members. It is also transformative for Starwood’s hotel associates, allowing them to better engage with guests. Rather than the first interaction being the swipe of a credit card, hotel associates can now focus on ways to better personalise guests’ stays.”
New hotels adopting SPG Keyless include Le Méridien Parkhotel Frankfurt, Le Méridien Hamburg, Le Méridien Columbus, Westin Westminster, Westin Palo Alto, Westin Camino Real Guatemala, Sheraton Bloomington, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas and Four Points Cupertino. And Starwood said that additional properties will continue to be added in the coming months.
Starwood revealed that the top five countries for the SPG Keyless system, based on usage, are the US, China, Canada, Hong Kong and UK. The top five cities are New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Miami.
