To further boost tourism in Dhofar, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) is planning to develop sites around perennial springs and waterfalls in the governorate.
There are 360 springs spread across the governorate as springs are a major tourist attraction during Khareef season, the most popular being Jarziz, Sahalnout, Razat, Hamran, Tubraq, Athoum and Darbat. The springs are replenished by rains during the khareef season
Dr Khalid bin Salim al Meshaikhi, head of dams and springs at the Directorate of Water Resources in Dhofar said that the directorate has observed and assessed sites for water abundance, population density and livestock presence.
