MSC Cruises has revealed plans to bring one of its liners to Australia for the first time.
The 2,550-passenger MSC Orchestra cruise ship will sail from Dubai to Australia in 2015, via a range of South and Southeast Asian destinations. Having arrived Down Under it will call at several ports in the country, including Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle.
“We are thrilled to be bringing MSC Orchestra to Australian waters,” said Lynne Clarke, managing director of MSC Cruises Australia & New Zealand. “And I will be equally excited for our loyal passengers to have the chance to see the cruise ship in their home waters.”
The 33-night ‘Grand Voyage’ will operate from 21 February to 26 March 2015, visiting at a total of 13 ports in eight different countries. From Dubai, MSC Orchestra will sail to the Indian ports of Mumbai and Kochi, before cruising on to the Sri Lankan capital Colombo. It will then set sail for Southeast Asia, taking in the resort islands of Phuket and Langkawi, before moving down to Singapore for an overnight stay.
The 92,400-tonne ship will then move on to Bali for its final Asian stop, before heading to Australian waters to Cairns and proceeding to travel half the way around Australia to Freemantle, on the country’s southwest coast. En route, passengers will also be offered an extended stay in Sydney.
