MSC Cruises is to double its cruise departures from the UK next autumn.
The Italian cruise line will base MSC Magnifica at Southampton for a series of seven-night cruises in September and October 2014. The ship will be the second based in the south England port along with MSC Opera.
Magnifica will sail four seven-night itineraries with a maximum of 2, 518 guests onboard. Services onboard include five restaurants, 17 bars, the MSC Aurea spa, 4D cinema and 1, 240-seat Royal Theatre.
Ports of call will include Zeebrugge, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Le Havre.
“MSC continues demonstrating its commitment to the British market by bringing a second and bigger ship to the English shores for the very first time. In addition to MSC Opera already based in Southampton during the summer 2014, MSC Magnifica is providing additional capacity to a market that has considerably grown in the recent years,” said Oliviero Morelli, MSC’s product and operations director.
“MSC Cruises has also seen a sustained increase of its own bookings and, with MSC Magnifica, is hoping to respond to the demand of its own customers,” he added.
