Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport was put on high alert last week, following intelligence reports warning of an impending terrorist attack in the city. According to a Times of India report, the alert specifically mentioned the possibility of a terror strike on 22 April - the day of the first IPL semi-final match, which was moved to Mumbai following the bomb attack on Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. Besides the airport, a mall in Lokhandwala and the Santa Cruz railway station were also on the list of possible terror targets, the report stated. Extra security checks were in place at Mumbai airport. Fortunately no attack materialised.
