Even as the shock at the Mumbai blasts continues to grip the metro, and speculation is rife on who the culprits are, the general feeling in the travel industry is that the domestic and international travel will continue as usual.Bhim Singh, managing director, Rajasthan Tours, based in Jaipur, said that the tragic event’s impact would take some time to be fully felt, but he said this was not likely to impact tourism.Travelite managing director, Sarabjit Singh, said such blasts were part of the ‘international phenomenon’ and people by and large had gotten used to it.Interestingly, O P Mendirata, group general manager Parkland Hotels, pointed out that almost all his 10 resorts of the Parkland in Delhi, had received heavy bookings on Thursday, a day after the blasts. However, he said there may be a marginal impact in Mumbai for a few days.He emphasised that the world over, India has a safe image and such incidents, tragic as they were, will not harm tourism. There was some resentment among the people at the police zeal to curb the movements of citizens and its inability to check such blast incidents.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh went to Mumbai on Thursday evening and assured that the culprits would be found. He called for peace and calm.
