A nine-month resurfacing project will begin at Mumbai Airport 27 September and could cause flight delays for up to nine months. The recarpeting project will be completed in phases over the next nine months, forcing part closure of the main runway for at least seven months. Recarpeting of the secondary runway was completed earlier in the year, but the main runway has not been resurfaced for a decade and is in poor condition, according to national media reports. The main closure will begin from 1 November, Mondays to Saturdays between 9am and 5pm, during which time the secondary runway will be used.
