Mumbai’s T2 commences international operations today

The new integrated Terminal 2 at Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) Mumbai will commence
international operations today.
The transition of all international flights from the existing terminal to the T2 began with the arrival of the Air India flight from Singapore AI343 scheduled at 1300 hours. The first departing flight from T2 will be the Jet Airways 9W118 to London Heathrow at 1320 hours.
During the last few weeks since its inauguration, the terminal underwent a comprehensive security sweep as well as the final stages of ORAT (Operational Readiness Activation and Transition). As part of the ORAT process GVK MIAL also undertook familiarization processes for airlines, ground handling staff, security, customs, immigration and MIAL employees; to help get them acquainted with the terminal building, new technologically advanced systems, facilities and processes for smooth and seamless transition of all stakeholders from old international terminal to the new integrated T2.
In order to ensure passenger convenience, GVK MIAL will also be deploying its customer service team to assist and guide passengers.
The Terminal 2 will have the ability to handle 40 million passengers annually. The new airport terminal is also home to India’s largest public art programme Jaya He, in the form of a 3 km multi-story Art Wall, illuminated by skylights, that has over 5000 pieces of artwork & artefacts from Maharashtra and also every region & corner of India.
The new integrated Terminal 2 comprises four levels:
Departure Level 4: Comprises common check-in facilities, international security & immigration, International departures retail, duty free, F&B. International departure gates are located at this level.
Level 3: Comprises security for domestic passengers, domestic departures retail, F&B and the domestic departure gates.
Arrival Level 2: Comprises Arrivals corridor, Arrivals duty free, Customs & Immigration, Baggage reclaim and Arrivals forecourt.
Level 1: Comprises Ground services, ground transportation lobby, Arrival bus gate lounges and Baggage handling systems.
