Mumbai will shut schools, shopping malls and cinemas as swine flu-related deaths jumped, ignoring federal government advice to keep educational institutions open. According to a Bloomberg report, schools will close for seven days from tomorrow and malls and movie theatres for three to contain the virus.
Heath officials however, have slammed the move. “Closing down schools is a stupid idea, a typical knee jerk reaction that you see in India,” NK Pandey, President-elect of the Association of Surgeons in India, was reported saying.
