Lindblad Expeditions will revamp its National Geographic expedition cruise ship next month.
The National Geographic Orion will enter drydock this September to undertake renovations to its public spaces.
As part of the upgrade, the ship’s library will be removed from The Lounge, providing an additional 20% of space, which will enable seating for all guests and expedition team members. The Lounge will then serve as the main focal point for all presentations and discussions by the ship’s expedition team and experts.
In addition, the ship’s bar will be redesigned and all furnishings and carpets will be upgraded. Large HD flat-screens and new audio systems will also be added, and the Observation Lounge will undergo a complete refurbishment.
The renovations will be handled by ICF Singapore, and will be completed in time for the 16 September 2014 ‘Wild Encounters’ voyage from Borneo to Bali.
The 102-passenger National Geographic Orion launched in March 2014 and offers a series of guest amenities, including kayaks, snorkelling and scuba gear, a glass bottom boat and even a remotely-operated submersible vehicle that can reach depths up to 1,000 feet (305 metres).
