Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) has cancelled all cruises to Tunisia after the country refused to allow its Israeli passengers to enter the country.
The company confirmed today that Tunisian authorities would now allow any Israeli passengers to disembark the Norwegian Jade cruise liner when it docked at the port of La Goulette, in the capital Tunis, on Sunday 9 March 2014.
In response to what it called a “discriminatory act”, NCL confirmed it has now cancelled all remaining calls to Tunisia, and will not return to the country.
“We want to send a strong message to Tunisia and ports around the world that we will not tolerate such random acts of discrimination against our guests,” said Kevin Sheehan, NCL’s CEO. “We are outraged by this act and the fact that we were not notified in advance of this practice. We apologise sincerely to our guests who were affected and want them to know that we have taken the appropriate action in response.”
The Norwegian Jade is currently sailing a series of cruises in the western Mediterranean.
