Nepal agents welcome ban on strikes

Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) has welcomed the government’s move to ban all types of strike, bandh and blockade in the tourism industry and 15 other sectors.NATO said the move would not only ease the movement of tourists but also restore Nepal’s destination image at home and abroad. “If this is implemented effectively, the entire tourism sector is sure to heave a great sigh of relief,” it said. Similarly, NATO also welcomed the government’s support to Nepal Airlines to purchase aircraft. The government has reiterated its pledge in the budget for the fiscal year 2011/12. 3D images to promote Nepal Tourists interested in visiting Nepal from across the globe will soon be able to visualise a real picture of famous tourist spots of the country through websites in a high-tech three-dimensional (3D) system. Prachanda Man Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board said the collaboration with 3RD Planet, a Singapore-based company, would boost the image of the country.. The 3RD Planet will first make promotional documentary about popular tourist destination of the Kathmandu Valley. Then, it will expand its project to trekking and mountaineering destinations. The technology will capture the aerial and ground views of destinations. The 3D is a modern and advance technology to showcase a real picture of an object. The promotional documentaries would be made available on websites of 3RD Planet and NTB. 3RD Planet is the first 3D online internet interactive sites of the world, said Terence Mak, CEO of the company. The company aims to highlight popular tourism destinations of world through its website. The company aims to lunch its promotional website by the end of 2011.Nepal has become the first country to join hands with 3RD Planet for tourism promotion.
