Visitor arrivals to Nepal increased by 11% year-on-year to 45,800 in September 2011, according to the figures released by Immigration Office at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.
The figure, which records air arrivals only, were driven by a 67% surge in visitors from China. Visitation from other Asian nations also saw strong gains, with Japan (+22%), Singapore (+30%) and Thailand (+10%) all seeing double digit increases. Arrivals South Korea however, declined 29.4%.
Visitors from neighbouring India – Nepal’s largest source market – climbed 24.5%.
