Nepal arrivals up 9%

Arrivals to Nepal jumped 9% to 38,453 in July 2012 as compared to the same period last year. The visitor arrivals from South Asia region grew 18.3% with mixed performances. According to the figures released by Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) India and Pakistan registered 24.3% and 27.1% increase, whereas Bangladesh and Sri Lanka markets declined 34.2% and 44.6% respectively.
Asia recorded positive growth of 8.5% with China (+27.2%), Japan (+28.4%) and Malaysia (+19.4%). However, arrivals from Singapore, South Korea and Thailand registered negative growth of 23.2%, 9.1% and 58% respectively.
