Nepalese start-up airline, Bishwo Airways has agreed to purchase five Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) passenger aircraft.
The order was placed at the recent Aero India International Aerospace Show and will see Bishwo start taking delivery of the new 93-seat regional jets from 2017.
Bishwo registered as a company in August 2014 and plans to offer both passenger and cargo services to South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Initially it will operate twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
The SSJ-100 is already being operated in Asia by Indonesia’s Sky Aviation and Lao Central Airlines of Laos.
