A new event has been announced that will showcase social media and British tourism across three days.
Social Travel Britain will take place in Salisbury from 17-19 April and also host the UK Social Travel Awards to celebrate the best social media campaigns in British tourism.
On stage the key issues of digital marketing will be discussed with other activities to include workshops, debates and networking opportunities.
“The requirements of successful tourism marketing are unrecognisable from even a few years ago. For many tourist boards and tourism marketers it is also difficult to distinguish between the great opportunities the sharing revolution offers, and the pitfalls. Social Travel Britain will bring together the best brains in destination and attraction marketing, with the bloggers and digital innovators who have played integral roles in recent successful campaigns,” said organiser Mark Frary from Travel Perspective.
Sessions will include ‘Blog it and they will come…’ with Salisbury Cathedral’s marketing director David Coulthard who will share how the cathedral has been brought up to date.
Social media has also been a strong element of marketing for hosts VisitWiltshire, which will be hoping to benefit from posts surrounding the event.
CEO David Andrews said: “Wiltshire has been a special place to visit for a very long time, so we’re delighted that Travel Perspective has chosen to bring this important conference to Salisbury. In order for VisitWiltshire to continue to achieve record numbers of tourism visits and spend for Wiltshire, it is essential we continue to invest in our digital and social media activity, so this is a fantastic opportunity for us to attract some of the country’s best tourism marketeers, travel bloggers, tweeters and Instagrammers to visit, and write about, Wiltshire.”
