Archipelago International has expanded its presence on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
The opening of the Harper Perintis in Makassar marks the “modern-rustic” brand’s debut in Sulawesi’s largest city. It joins Archipelago’s three existing hotels in Makassar, including one upscale Aston hotel and convention centre and two budget favehotels.
The new hotel features 158 rooms and suites, a restaurant, Martini bar, spa, gym and function space, including a 1,240-pax ballroom.
“We are excited to open a Harper Hotel here in Makassar and with our great achievements with the Aston and favehotel brands we are confident Harper Perintis will be a huge success,” said Winston Hanes, Archipelago’s director of operations.
“Harper Perintis has all the facilities to support MICE business as well as facilities for the individual and family travellers. Harper Perintis’ location near the airport makes it a perfect location for transit passengers as well. This is a great addition to our Harper portfolio.”
Harper Perintis becomes the sixth Harper in Indonesia, joining existing properties in Bali, Jakarta, Bandung, Purwakarta and Yogyakarta. At least five more hotels are scheduled to open in the coming months, including locations in Solo and Banjarmasin.
