Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) has announced plans to open a Sydney campus. The school, which opened in Leura, New South Wales, in 1991, this year celebrates its 20th anniversary. The new Sydney campus will offer undergraduate programmes, while the post-grad courses will continue to be run at BMIHMS’s Canberra campus.
“Demand for our hospitality graduates around the world continues to be very strong and we have an ambitious plan for the future. Opening a new campus in Sydney will make us an even more attractive proposition for prospective students and will allow us to better satisfy the current and future demand of bachelor degree students” said Guy Bentley, CEO of BMIHMS.
Opening in January 2012 the new campus will be located in the centre of Sydney, in front of the town hall. Students will do the first two years of their bachelor degree in the residential Leura campus in the Blue Mountains, before moving to Sydney for the last year of their studies to focus on the executive management part of their degree.
“This allows us to complement and rationalise our campuses by portfolio of activities and gives our students an improved and specialised learning environment in each of our campuses. Canberra will become the location for our Postgraduate programme as well as a much valued center of expertise with applied training within the Hotel Kurrajong, while Leura and Sydney will concentrate on our undergraduate programs” said Bentley.
