Northern Ireland-based Hastings Hotel Group has acquired Belfast property Windsor House for £6.5m, with a view to redeveloping the building as a hotel.
Windsor House rates as one of the tallest buildings in Ireland.
Planning permission for “a hotel of major city international quality” will be submitted within a few weeks, the new owner said. Award-winning Belfast Architects WDR & RT Taggarts have been engaged to develop the design.
This will be a major construction project, and will be very much welcomed by the Northern Ireland building industry, the company said in a statement.
The hotel, when completed, will see the creation of 150 new jobs in the hospitality sector, it added.
