A new international border checkpoint connecting Cambodia with Laos will open next week.
The Khmer Times reported Cambodia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry as confirming on Thursday that the new Trapeang Kriel-Nong Nokkhiane checkpoint will allow travellers to cross between Stung Treng province in northeast Cambodia and Champasak province in southwest Laos.
“Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith will preside over the inauguration ceremony of the international border checkpoint between Cambodia and Lao PDR to take place on January 10,” the Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed in a statement.
At present, the only border crossing between Laos and Cambodia is Dong Kralor-Veun Kham, which also links Stung Treng and Champasak provinces.
