Malaysia’s new Tourism Minister Azalina Othman Said has said that she would not change policies that had proven successful in promoting the country’s tourism sector.
Speaking to reporters, she was quoted saying that the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 campaign had proven successful, raking in RM45 billion and 20.9 million tourists to the country.
Bernama quoted the minister as saying that she would further develop the eco-tourism sector.
“Many countries are offering eco-tourism packages in Southeast Asia but only Malaysia has the “Truly Asia” identity.
“Through aggressive and continuous promotions, Malaysia’s advantage in eco-tourism can help generate more income for the people,” she was quoted saying.
