The famed Boathouse hotel in Phuket is now under new management.
The 38-room property at Kata Beach, which was formerly known as Mom Tri’s Boathouse, was previously managed by Thailand’s Montara Hospitality. But it has now been taken over by Singapore-based HPL Hotels & Resorts. The deal is effective 8 December 2016.
The hotel’s name will now be changed again, from “The Boathouse by Montara” to “The Boathouse Phuket”, and it will become part of HPL’s Boutique Collection.
Stephen Lau, chairman of HPL Hotels & Resorts, said that “adding Boathouse to the cluster will complement the [Boutique Collection] portfolio”. “This takeover reflects our commitment to developing our business in Thailand and elsewhere in the region,” he added.
HPL’s Boutique Collection also includes three properties in Malaysia, the Casa del Mar in Langkawi, Casa del Rio in Melaka and The Lakehouse in the Cameron Highlands. HPL also operates hotels under the Concorde and Hard Rock brands, as well as the Gili Lankanfushi luxury resort in the Maldives.
